Green Bonds
- Sustainable local growth and change
- Sustainable financial products
- Responsibility and sustainability in internal operations
Eika Boligkreditt's main purpose is to ensure access to long-term and competitive funding by issuing covered bonds for the local banks in the Eika Alliance (the owner banks).
The owner banks have transferred approximately NOK 120 billion in mortgages for funding through covered bonds and Eika Boligkreditt has issued about NOK 120 billion in bonds. Approximately 35 percent of the mortgages in Eika is financed through Eika Boligkreditt.
Issuance of green bonds is a good strategic fit in the 3 pillar sustainability approach in Eika: (i) sustainable local growth and change, (ii) sustainable financial products, and (iii) responsibility and sustainability in internal operations.
Yearly, Eika have Multiconsult perform a carbon foot print analysis of the mortgage loans in the pool and avoided emissions from the green mortgages.
Eika has received a second party opinion from ISS ESG on its Green Bond Framework.
Eika Boligkreditt may issue European Green Bonds (EuGBs) under the EU Green Bond Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/2631). The proceeds from EuGB issuances are allocated to mortgages financing residential buildings that meet the eligibility criteria set out in the EU Taxonomy. EuGB issuances are subject to external review by Moody's France SAS and are aligned with the voluntary guidance provided by the ICMA Green Bond Principles 2025.
